Start of apprentice training at BUTTING

For many companies in the region, the beginning of August marks an exciting event – the start of training. BUTTING in Knesebeck welcomed 36 new apprentices across 10 different training professions to its premises.

"Welcome to the BUTTING family! I would have liked to congratulate your parents as well this morning. But for the first time in more than 20 years, we are holding this event without your parents or representatives from your vocational colleges," Hermann Butting explained as he welcomed the new trainees. In his speech, he gave an insight into the company philosophy: "We are the 7th generation of an independent, family-run business. We are building this company for your generation. We see ourselves as a well-trained, international family of employees who never stop learning”. He continued with more words of encouragement: "We expect the same from you. Indulge your curiosity to learn new things. Treat others with respect. Contribute to the success of our business and community!"

More welcome speeches followed from the youth and trainee council, the works council and the trainers themselves. For the first time, the apprentices had to undertake a task and deliver the results in a short presentation. The event finished with a snack and workwear was handed out to the newcomers.

The apprentices spend their first week learning more about the family business. Unlike previous years, this will be while complying with the necessary hygiene measures due to COVID-19. Instead of the annual team week, there will be information events and training sessions in small groups within the relevant training professions.
