SCHWANNER nominated for business award

The Bavarian family business SCHWANNER was recently nominated for a major German business award (“Grosser Preis des Mittelstandes”). This prize has been awarded annually since 1994 in recognition of German SMEs that play a special role in society.

"At its core, SCHWANNER is an innovative and quality-conscious SME with close customer relations. Its progressive corporate focus over several generations and its commitment to social issues have created many jobs in the local area around Altötting, Mühldorf and Traunstein," Marcel Bartels, Managing Director, explains. For him, SCHWANNER is one of the best SMEs in Germany. "This nomination is the cherry on the cake. We're extremely proud," he continues.

SCHWANNER was established in 1899 as a traditional forge and, since then, has become known for its customer-focused approach to the development of its product portfolio. What was once a small family business has, over the decades, become a leading SME in vacuum technology. "SCHWANNER's technology solutions are innovative and sustainable. Its hydrogen products are making a significant and active contribution to the energy transition," Dr Bernhard Reiter, head of technical development at SCHWANNER, explains.

In this high-quality market environment, SCHWANNER continues to train the next generation of employees in these challenging professions, while ensuring continuing professional development for its staff. SCHWANNER was able to expand its global sales operations when it joined the owner-managed BUTTING Group in 2021.

The competition is organised on a purely voluntary basis, is privately financed and subject to certified quality management in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2015. The aim of the initiative is to promote respect and recognition for corporate responsibility, while providing a solid foundation for networking among SMEs.
