‘Running smoothly’: BUTTING team masters company run

Workplace health promotion is particularly important at BUTTING in Knesebeck. The annual highlight is the company run in Braunschweig – this year with over 70 employees from the family-owned company taking part.

In true style, all runners travelled from the factory premises to Braunschweig in the BUTTING bus. After individual warm-up and stretching exercises, the BUTTING team soon made their way to the starting line. The course was just under 5 kilometres long. While some runners focused on the shared experience, others let their sporting ambition come to the fore. Managing Director Dirk Meinecke took the top spot on the BUTTING podium, closely followed by Jan Wiezowiecki and Paul Bauke.

Organiser Jan Holz was more than satisfied with the event: ‘We exceeded our target of at least 50 runners, so I think we'll plan for 100 next year,’ he said, delighted with the large number of participants.

After the race, the BUTTING athletes celebrated the event in their specially designed running shirts before returning to Knesebeck in the BUTTING bus.

‘Events such as the company run always stand out, of course, but we offer much more in terms of workplace health promotion (WHP),’ reports Jan Holz. Nutrition, sport and medical advice or check-ups round off the range of services offered by BUTTING. ‘We want to maintain and promote the physical, mental, psychological and social health of our employees,’ he explains. Regular fruit days, free cardiovascular and skin screenings, and counselling on addiction and psychological stress in the workplace are important pillars. The HANSEFIT company fitness programme and bike leasing at BUTTING round off the offering.
