Re-certification of the Integrated Management System

At BUTTING in Knesebeck, we have combined quality, environmental protection, energy and occupational health and safety into an Integrated Management System (IMS) for many years. Now Thomas Knöfel, Head of Quality Management, was able to announce the successful re-certification.

With the Integrated Management System, we implement the requirements of standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, DIN ISO 45001 and ISO 50001. Thomas Knöfel remembers: "The first certification in accordance with ISO 9001 took place almost 30 years ago. In 2006, pure quality management became the Integrated Management System, which was expanded to include the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 (now ISO 45001) standards." In 2015, certification of the energy management system was added to this set of standards. Thomas Knöfel is convinced that "this clearly distinguishes BUTTING from other companies: We successfully merged and certified these four sets of rules at an early stage."

Thomas Schüller, Managing Director of BUTTING in Knesebeck, explains: "Our main IMS objectives include continuous and sustainable optimisation of our processes, increasing customer satisfaction and improving our environmental and energy impact, as well as our working conditions."

The basis for meeting the requirements of these rules are intelligent business processes and strategies. "This allows us to manage risks and opportunities and to make the best use of competences and resources. In addition, all processes are continuously improved in accordance with the PDCA principle (Plan-Do-Check-Act). In this way, we can satisfy the customer while maintaining consistent quality and complying with legal requirements and international standards at the same time," reports Thomas Knöfel. "This creates trust in our company for our existing customers, but also for potential new customers. This is what ‘Progress by tradition’ means."
