Managing Director Thomas Schüller retires

"Progress by Tradition" means innovation and development based on long-standing experience as well as extensive knowledge and expertise – a set of qualities that BUTTING employees excel at. A prominent example is Thomas Schüller. At BUTTING for 33 years, he initially trained as a material tester, studied material grade technology with a sponsorship from BUTTING, worked in quality assurance, trained as a welding engineer, worked in welding technology and became production manager. He was Technical Managing Director for 21 years.

His work focused primarily on investments, process optimisation, innovation and development, as well as on the wide-ranging area of problem solving in project management. For more than two decades, he played a key role in shaping the Knesebeck site: on the one hand, our image and cooperative spirit, and on the other, our production and technology.
Thomas took the decision at the end of December to step down from his role as Managing Director to enjoy life in retirement.

Hermann Butting looked back on Thomas' time at BUTTING with gratitude: "For over 21 years, Thomas Schüller, along with his sustainable, team-oriented and responsible approach, has shaped the fortunes of BUTTING. He has mentored the next generation of technical experts and supported them in their new roles and responsibilities. Thanks to his leadership, we are very well placed in the field of materials, welding, testing and production technology. Thomas Schüller leaves behind a well-run company! For this, he deserves my personal thanks and that of the whole BUTTING family of employees."
