Hillger NDT: Innovative ultrasonic system for material testing

Since last year, Hillger NDT has been part of the BUTTING Group. Following intensive development work, the specialists in non-destructive testing (NDT) have now brought another innovative ultrasonic testing project to the market: The USBUS 4000 AirTech – an air-coupled ultrasonic system for material testing.

The new product from Hillger NDT is used in the ultrasonic testing of materials in non-contact technique. The innovation lies in its new connectivity feature – the single-channel test device is equipped with a USB port and can be operated via the customer's computer. This makes non-contact ultrasound inspections much more cost-effective. Hillger supplies probes from its own production facilities in the frequency range from 50 to 300 kHz. Another application is the characterisation of probes.

The innovative testing system can be used for a wide range of applications. "In addition to non-contact material testing with ultrasound, it's also possible to carry out long-term investigations on probe reliability", reports Dr. Artur Szewieczek, Managing Director of Hillger NDT.

The powerful and easy-to-use Hillgus software allows the automatic evaluation of amplitudes and transit times via multiple gates, as well as FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis. The devices are used not only for on-line testing in a wide range of industrial sectors, but also in research and development and at universities.

The company from Braunschweig has been developing and selling imaging ultrasound systems for 35 years. With its expertise in this area, it is a recognised partner for innovative solutions and inspection tasks in the field of non-destructive testing (NDT), with a particular focus on aircraft and aerospace technology.
