Compliance: BUTTING implements sanctions package

Due to the holistic sustainability approach with over 240 years of company history, compliance with laws and regulations is an essential part of BUTTINGs Code of Conduct. Against this background, BUTTING is complying with the provisions of the 11th package of sanctions against Russia, as adopted by the European Union and other international organisations.

The previous sanctions packages regulated the import of iron and steel or placed it under sanctions. The 11th package of sanctions aims to restrict or prohibit certain economic activities and trade relations with Russian companies and individuals.

In accordance with Article 3g of Council Regulation (EU) 833/2014, it is prohibited both to acquire, directly or indirectly, iron and steel products listed in Annex XVII which are located in, or originate in, Russia, and to import or purchase such products if they have been processed in a third country using iron and steel products listed in Annex XVII originating in Russia.
BUTTING respects and complies with these sanctions in full and along the entire upstream supply chain. Norbert Heinzle, Managing Director of BUTTING in Knesebeck, explains: "We pledge not to do business or have trade relations with Russian entities or persons listed in the sanctions. We regularly review our business relationships and activities to ensure that they comply with the sanctions. Thus, our delivered products are manufactured in full compliance with the sanctions regulations applicable in this regard."

For our customers and suppliers, this means that our business relationships and transactions will continue to be conducted in accordance with applicable rules and laws. Hagen Lindenschmidt, Compliance Officer at BUTTING, explains: "We are committed to fulfilling our obligations to our business partners. At the same time, we ensure that we comply with international sanctions that could affect our business practices."

Norbert Heinzle added: "If you have any questions or concerns about our compliance with the sanctions against Russia, we are happy to clarify them with you. Our aim is to act transparently and responsibly to maintain long-term relationships with our valued customers and suppliers."
