As part of its collaboration with charitable organisations, the integration workshop in Gifhorn's northern district once again provided a space for social interaction and meaningful work. The focus was on the 'Sewing Studio', which served a good cause that day. Under the expert guidance of Heidi Jung, an employee of the integration workshop, the women made 'nesting blankets' – special blankets made from different fabrics, buttons, zippers and other materials designed to stimulate the tactile senses of people with dementia.
Petra Lührs, chairwoman of the district rural women's association in Gifhorn, and Uschi Schüller, head of the integration workshop, welcomed the participants. The lovingly designed fidget blankets will later be given to care homes and similar institutions, where they will bring joy to people with dementia and help calm them.
“It is impressive to see something valuable being created here, both for those affected and for social cohesion in our society,” said Uschi Schüller, summing up the positive outcome.
The BUTTING Academy is delighted with the tremendous commitment shown by everyone involved, and is proud to offer a platform for such meaningful projects through the integration workshop.
