BUTTING in China: U-Stamp approval

The production of pressure vessels has for many years been part of the range of services provided by BUTTING in China. The production plant in Tieling now has U-Stamp approval from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

The family business is investing extensively to optimise and expand its production facilities in China for pressure vessels, the manufacture of pipeline systems and ready-to-install components, and for skid solutions.
It is now possible to produce pressure vessels for a wide range of sectors with the U-Stamp in line with the American standard. The ASME code is the world’s leading set of guidelines for pressure vessels. Marcel Bartels, Managing Director of BUTTING International, sees the qualification as a major competitive advantage: "Components that are manufactured in this way are recognised not only in the USA and Canada but in over 100 other countries as well. This will help our customers with their global product marketing – irrespective of the material."

Two additional production halls were officially opened at the end of last year. Marcel Bartels explains: "Our primary objective in building a new packaging, pickling and blasting hall was to improve the working conditions for our Chinese colleagues." BUTTING also anticipates optimised process safety and improved material flow.
"Thanks to these new possibilities, we can expand our core competences in the field of stainless steel and we can now produce carbon manganese steel vessels on-site," Marcel Bartels points out. "We're investing in the expansion of all of these production facilities to future-proof our Chinese operation."

BUTTING opened its production facility in the north of China in 2011. Today, BUTTING has over 120 employees at its Chinese plant who mainly produce prefabricated piping components, vessels and tanks, as well as ready-to-install scrubbers and complete skids. The products are used worldwide, particularly in the paper and pulp industry, but also in exhaust gas treatment for marine applications and sea water desalination.
