BUTTING family makes donation for kindergarten in flood area

The Quellenstrasse kindergarten in Heimerzheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, fell victim to the great German flood disaster in July of this year. A sum of 25 000 euros was collected in a fundraising campaign by the BUTTING Sponsoring Association and recently handed over to the kindergarten management in the name of the entire BUTTING family.

"We are incredibly proud to have raised such a large sum for this pet project from donations made by our employees – by working together in this way we can make a big difference," says Alexandra Soltau, First Chairperson of the BUTTING Förderverein (Sponsoring Association). "A special thank you goes to Mr Hermann Butting, who had declared that he would be willing, in the end, to double the sum of the staff donations. This is how we create more quality of life together!"

Following the destruction of all the kindergarten facilities by the flood, shipping containers were installed, which are being used by the children and teachers as a stop-gap measure. Even if the construction of a new building is covered by insurance, the entire outdoor area will have to be redesigned and playground equipment purchased.

Thomas Knöfel, Second Chairperson of the BUTTING Förderverein and Head of Quality Management at BUTTING in Knesebeck, recently gained a first-hand impression of the situation on the spot and presented the donation cheque to the kindergarten management. "With BUTTING’s donation we can implement a lot of creative ideas for our little ones – thank you so much for the great readiness of your staff family to help," says Michaela Biermann.

The BUTTING Sponsoring Association supports people and institutions in need of help, club sport in the region and projects in the fields of training and education as well as elderly and youth care. The goals of the sponsoring association are achieved with the help of monthly donations from BUTTING employees.
