Quality and delivery speed

At its Knesebeck site, BUTTING is investing in the development of a new housing and components production facility. This investment will create a modern production facility specifically designed for the cost-effective manufacture of high-quality housings, components and welded assemblies – with short lead times and competitive processes.

In future, the new production facility will manufacture customised housings, components and welded assemblies that meet high standards of dimensional accuracy, surface quality and process reliability. These include, amongst others, pump housings, valve housings, pipe sockets, measuring bends and other complex components for industrial applications. The aim is to provide customers with ready-to-assemble components and assemblies of consistently high quality.

Focus on small, medium and large series
BUTTING has many years of experience in the production of small and medium-sized series. With the new housing and component production facility, these capabilities are being specifically expanded to enable the economical and reliable production of large series involving several hundred thousand components per year in the future. In this way, BUTTING is complementing its existing strengths with additional capacity for high volumes – whilst maintaining consistently high quality and process reliability.

The new production facility brings together around 10,000 square metres of production space in a single, contiguous complex. The production areas are arranged along a clearly defined material flow. Short distances, clear handover points and end-to-end processes form the basis for efficient and predictable production.

“Our customers expect high-quality housings, components and welded assemblies that function reliably and are available on time. With the new housing and component production facility, we are creating the structural conditions to meet these requirements,” says Jörn Kubiak, Head of the Pipe Technology business unit.

Short lead times right to the assembly line

A key benefit for customers of the new production facility is short and predictable lead times. The aim is to manufacture selected housings, components and welded assemblies within up to five working days and deliver them directly to the customer’s assembly line.

For customers, this means: a manufacturing partner capable of flexibly handling medium to large-scale production runs without compromising on quality, delivery times or cost-effectiveness – all from a single source, from tube processing through mechanical machining and welding to ready-to-assemble housings, components or welded assemblies.

Highly efficient production through integrated technologies

The new housing and component production facility is designed for a wide range of products. It utilises modern laser cutting systems as well as lathes, calibration presses, automatic welding cells for the production of welded assemblies and a modern bending centre. Production is complemented by an automatic tube block storage system and a driverless transport system, which ensure an efficient supply of materials.

The combination of these technologies enables a seamless process chain – from pre-processing to the ready-to-assemble assembly. Automated handover points increase process reliability, reduce manual intervention and ensure reproducible quality with short lead times.

Progress rooted in tradition

BUTTING has many years of experience in processing pipes into housings, components and welded assemblies. This manufacturing expertise is fully integrated into the new housing and component production. Modern automation and well-coordinated teams work in tandem.

For customers, this means: technically mature solutions, consistent quality and a partner who understands the requirements throughout the entire process chain.

With its new housing and component production facility, BUTTING is also underlining its “Challenge us” philosophy. We are open to new challenges and, together with our customers, are pushing the boundaries of efficiency and feasibility in modern manufacturing.

Sustainable and future-proof production

The energy concept for the new housing and component production facility is designed for efficiency and sustainability. Around 50 per cent of the roof area will be fitted with a photovoltaic system. The concept is complemented by a water-based heating system, radiant ceiling panels, heat pumps and heat recovery from the extraction and ventilation systems. Production at the new housing and component manufacturing facility in Knesebeck is scheduled to start at the end of 2027.
