Pneumatic conveying

BUTTING develops and manufactures your customised piping systems for the pneumatic conveying of bulk materials - high-quality, durable and reliable.

Innovative inside surfaces

Transport goods gently

Pneumatic conveying systems enable the transport of all types of bulk materials in many industrial areas. Gentle transport of the bulk material - without abrasion and crushing - is crucial for the reliability of a conveyor system. The system must be mechanically stable and corrosion-resistant as well as flow-optimised - adapted to the conveying speed, particle size and sensitivity of the conveyed material.

Less wear thanks to targeted roughening

Plastic pellets are transported through stainless steel and light metal pipes along kilometres of routes from the loading station to the processing plant. When they come into contact with the smooth pipe wall, frictional pressure and increased temperatures can lead to partial plasticisation of the granules. This results in the formation of a film and subsequently threads in the pipes and pipe bends. This also means material losses and contamination or even complete blockage of the pipework. The aim is, therefore, to avoid the formation of so-called "sauerkraut" or "angel´s hair". This process can be prevented by targeted roughening of the surface.

Your solutions from BUTTING

Appropriate treatment of the inner surface counteracts the formation of impurities. BUTTING uses two production processes for the roughening of inside surfaces:

  • Shot-peening: Here, the pipe surface is compacted and roughened by vertically impinging steel balls.
  • Spatulated pipework (BUTTING EasyGroove®): Here, the inner pipe surface is deepened by the pressure of a toothed roller, creating a very specific structure.

BUTTING offers you standardised pipe dimensions in accordance with DIN EN, ASTM and ISO - from NB50 to 300 as well as intermediate and special sizes such as NB 175 and NB 225.

Long radius bends

We also offer you bends with large radii. The large radius of the bends minimises the impact and thus prevents damage to the conveyed material and the pipe wall. The transport-related segregation of supporting air and conveyed material is reduced. In addition, transport is even, thus preventing the formation of plugs and the resulting pressure losses. Our bends can be manufactured in almost any desired radius and angle. We also offer straight end pieces for easier integration - even with extended lengths of up to 5,800 mm.

Customised dimensions

Technology, materials and variety of shapes

Depending on the nature and quantity of the material to be conveyed, the conveying method and the conveying speed, there are different requirements for the surface. You have the option of selecting different surface conditions and surface roughnesses .

Depending on your requirements, our pipe systems are made of stainless steel, aluminium or duplex steel. While stainless steel offers impressive corrosion resistance, aluminium offers a weight-optimised alternative for certain media. For highly abrasive applications, our tried-and-tested duplex steel 1.4462 (UNS S32205) is used - resistant to both mechanical wear and corrosion.

Special dimensions and transition pieces for mixed systems, e.g. stainless steel and aluminium are also possible.

BUTTING is your competent partner for the processing of stainless steels. As one of the leading companies in the industry, we offer customised solutions for a wide range of applications. Our products are characterised by the highest quality and longevityand are used in numerous areas.

Raumatik tubes for transporting EVA

BUTTING manufactured over 1,500 metres of pipes in the materials 1.4541 and 1.4307 and with an internal surface roughness of 150 to 300 μm to equip a plant for conveying ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) in Taiwan.

Customised Raumatik bends

Taking into account the minimum bending radii mentioned, bends can be formed in any radius and with any desired number of degrees. Radii of 5 to 10 times the pipe diameter are common. Defined straight leg extensions on one or both ends can be taken into account during production up to a pipe length of approx. 5,800 mm.
