"We welcome anyone with a thirst for knowledge with open arms." With these words, Hermann Butting opened the BUTTING Academy in 2004.
Not an empty promise - because in recent years theBUTTING Academy has become a permanent fixture in the region around Knesebeck. With an offer for local people, for companies and organisations from all over Germany and especially for the BUTTING family of employees.
The beginnings
"Lifelong learning" is a philosophy that company owner Hermann Butting lives by and passes on to the company, its employees and his fellow human beings. Over the past 20 years, the BUTTING Academy has also learnt, developed and sometimes even reinvented itself.
In the early days, the motto was "from practice for practice - from the region for the region - from person to person". The academy quickly became a place of learning for everyone. Whether it was basic PC knowledge for young-at-heart senior citizens, job application training for school pupils or creative topics such as writing an autobiography - there was something for everyone.
Since 2006, the BUTTING practical days for employees of customers from the stainless steel industry have offered tried-and-tested knowledge "All about quality tubes" and exciting insights into production at BUTTING in Knesebeck in various modules. Social commitment is an equally constant companion. Since its foundation, the Academy has accompanied, supported and further developed numerous projects. Today, for example, it is the network coordinator of the nationwide Kinder forschen foundation. The sponsorship of the Gifhorn Nord integration workshop is a further commitment to society.
The BURG Knesebeck
In the early years, the academy found its home on the factory premises in Knesebeck. However, space was at a premium and the search for an alternative quickly began.
Heike and Hermann Butting found the perfect solution on the outskirts of Knesebeck: the official residence of the old moated castle was acquired along with the neighbouring park.
Under the aegis of Heike Butting, the loving restoration of the listed building into a fully-fledged conference centre soon began. In March 2009, the new home of the BUTTING Academy was officially opened under the name "BURG Knesebeck".
Since then, the BURG has established itself as a special meeting place. Numerous regular customers - both within and outside the BUTTING Group - use the conference centre for meetings, training sessions and many other events. Attentive staff, a cosy atmosphere, exceptional cuisine and modern conference technology ensure well-being, concentration and success.
Team as a success factor
As an experienced trainer and coach for managers, teams and individuals, Tanja Roth offers individually designed programmes. At BURG Knesebeck, but also directly with clients, she supports people in their personal development in the areas of leadership, personality, team, resilience and communication.
Karina Olms-Schulz, Head of the Academy since November 2023, has a clear goal: "We want to raise awareness of our entire range of services in the region and beyond. Whether it's the use of the conference centre or our personnel development measures - we are well positioned for the future and have the perfect mix to offer our customers an 'all-round carefree package'."
BUTTING - more than pipes - for a better quality of life
