New jetty for the Isenhagener Land rowing club

"The Isenhagener Land Rowing Club meant a lot to my father, Dr Hannshermann Butting. In grateful memory of him and in the year of his 100th birthday, I immediately agreed to support the rowing club in this important project for him," said Hermann Butting, President of the BUTTING Group, opening his words of welcome at the inauguration ceremony for the new jetty on the Elbe side canal.

As a founding member of the association and enthusiastic rower, Dr Hannshermann Butting, the 6th generation company owner of BUTTING, was very close to the association. So it was only natural for him to donate the club's first jetty: made of stainless steel by BUTTING employees in Knesebeck.

After countless docking and casting off manoeuvres, experiences and years, it was now time for a new jetty.

A financial challenge for the rowing club, as 1st Chairman Heiko Ernst reports: "Modern jetties have to fulfil numerous requirements and should of course also last as long as possible. Fortunately, when we decided to renovate the jetty, we quickly found a great supporter in Hermann Butting." He also emphasised the good cooperation between the authorities: "From the water and shipping authority to the jetty builder, everyone pulled together."

Now the time had finally come and the new jetty could be officially opened. After Hermann Butting and Heiko Ernst ceremoniously cut the ribbon, it was time for the maiden voyage. Together with Andrea Nokel and Thomas Sordel, both also members of the rowing club, the two of them climbed into the rowing boat "Doc Butting" and took a few laps of the Elbe side canal.

On their return, all the guests went to the rowing club's clubhouse to reminisce over coffee and cake and make new plans.

"In our 50 years as a club, we have experienced, built and developed an incredible amount. We are incredibly happy that our members, like the Butting family, have been loyal to our association for such a long time," said Chairman Heiko Ernst, emphasising the great voluntary commitment and support of the association members.
