BUTTING's main plant in Knesebeck has been honoured by DB Cargo with the "Environmental Advantage Rail" award. This certificate recognises the company's commitment to environmentally friendly and resource-conserving logistics.
In the period from 1 January to 31 December 2024, BUTTING significantly reduced its transport emissions by transporting a total of 70,329 tonnes of goods by rail.
According to the evaluation prepared by DB Cargo on the basis of EcoTransIT World, emissions were reduced to 209 tonnes of CO₂. The total emissions saved compared to alternative transport by lorry amount to 965 tonnes of CO₂e - an impressive contribution to climate protection and a sustainable supply chain.
A key component of this efficiency is the company's own railway siding on the BUTTING site in Knesebeck. Thanks to the direct connection, wagons can be loaded and unloaded effectively and efficiently on site. This direct connection to the rail network enables short distances, optimum utilisation of transport capacity and close integration with internal production and logistics processes.

"Through the targeted use of rail, we are making a contribution to climate protection and a responsible supply chain together with our business partners."
