BUTTING Knesebeck supports children's and youth fire brigades

BUTTING has been a supporter and promoter of the region for many years, in equestrian sports, for schools, clubs and much more. The Knesebeck-based family business is now also a partner of children's and youth fire brigades.

In and around the fire stations and vehicles, the youngest members learn about the fire brigade itself and are gradually trained as junior firefighters. The values that are practised in the fire brigades and taught at a young age are particularly important. BUTTING also shares these values. In particular, open-mindedness, reliability, courage and appreciation have made the family business successful for almost 250 years. Important qualities that also characterise the volunteer firefighters.
"BUTTING is deeply rooted in the region and is there for the people. That's why we support the great social commitment and dedication of the children's and youth fire brigades," explains Jakob Tack, project manager at BUTTING and himself active in the fire brigade. To this end, BUTTING has launched the "Partner of the fire brigades" support programme at its headquarters in Knesebeck "Many colleagues from our family of employees are active or passive members of the fire brigades. These colleagues can apply to sponsor their children's or youth fire brigade and thus secure support for their own young firefighters," says Jakob Tack, describing the principle.
Almost all sponsorship places have already been filled. Over a period of two years, 25 children's and youth fire brigades are to be financially supported in the first stage.
The junior departments of the fire brigades, of which at least one member works at BUTTING, will receive the funding. "In this way, we show the volunteers at BUTTING that their special commitment is recognised," emphasises Jakob Tack.

Voluntary commitment in volunteer fire brigades
With over 1,000,000 volunteers, fire brigades are one of the largest volunteer organisations in Germany. The social significance of each individual goes far beyond the core tasks of "rescuing, extinguishing, recovering and protecting". In many places, volunteer firefighters play a particularly important role in youth work. In Lower Saxony alone, there are over 1,900 youth and 820 children's fire brigades.
