BUTTING Practical Days 1 and 2
Course information at a glance
The training courses take place in the training rooms of the BUTTING Academy on the premises of H. Butting GmbH & Co. KG in Knesebeck. Overnight accommodation and dinner will be provided at BURG Knesebeck, the BUTTING Academy's conference centre, not far from the factory premises.

Practical days 1
"All about the quality pipe"
This seminar is primarily aimed at employees from purchasing and sales as well as career changers from related industries who would like to acquire a sound basic knowledge of stainless steel pipes and pipe accessories. After this training course, participants will know how to produce a longitudinally welded stainless steel pipe from coil or plate.
They will be able to clearly describe a pipebased on the standard materials, their similarities and differences and gain an insight into the key features of the relevant European and American standards (tolerances, surface finishes, heat treatment condition, non-destructive and destructive tests, test certificates).
Lecture topics are:
- Introduction to materials science
- Fundamentals of pipe production from coil and plate
- Introduction to surface technology
- Introduction to quality assurance
- European and American standards
- The "perfect" pipe enquiry
Practical days 2
"More than pipes - practical workshop"
Seminar 2 builds on the content of BUTTING Practical Days 1 and focusses on the topic of "More than pipes". It is aimed at experienced employees from trading companies who work with pipes and pipe accessories. Participants will learn which criteria need to be taken into account in order to produce a ready-to-install component from a stainless steel pipe.
They will gain an insight into the welding process and welding quality management and learn about various chemical, mechanical and thermal processes that are used in the production and further processing of quality pipes. The connection between concrete requirements for components and specific production processes becomes clear.
This event is characterised by a high degree of practical relevance: detailed practical tours of BUTTING's current production facilities complement the theoretical knowledge gained from the seminar presentations.
The lecture topics are
- Welding - a special process in pipe production
- Errors in the processing of corrosion-resistant steels and their effects
- Workshop: Mechanised welding
- Workshop: Different processing methods and their influence on the quality and functionality of the pipe
- Possibilities for further processing of pipes - forming, turning, milling, cutting
Optimally practical
At our two-day BUTTING Practical Days, you will experience further training that is specifically geared to the realities and requirements of day-to-day business. The speakers are exclusively BUTTING employees who contribute their technical expertise and daily experience from the various production areas.
Many national and international partners value our product quality and our technical expertise. That is why they rely on us to organise the specialist training of their employees on seminar days as part of the BUTTING product practice. Individual seminar content can also be developed and customised together with the speakers.
Getting hands-on
The individual key topics are discussed in short theoretical presentations and then illustrated in practice using current production at BUTTING. The intensive dialogue within small groups of a maximum of 15 participants and the subsequent discussion of individual problems are an essential part of this practical training.
In addition to information on pipe production from coil and plate, and prefabrication, the processing options for pipes can also be explained. An essential part of this practical training programme is the opportunity to take part in the "Welding taster course", where participants can try out welding processes for themselves in our training and test welding shop.

The BUTTING Academy also supports customised concepts for your company's training measures on the subject of stainless steel and quality pipes, which are geared towards specialist or industry-specific wishes and requirements on the subject of stainless steel.
