Geothermal energy
Multifaceted stainless steel solutions
Present in geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is one of the most sustainable forms of energy. BUTTING has been supporting geothermal energy projects for a long time. For many years, we have been a reliable partner for casings that are used for the lining of boreholes in geothermal drilling projects in the Salton Sea in Southern California and must be highly resistant to high temperatures, severe corrosion and difficult drilling conditions.
Customised solutions for you
One of the biggest challenges in medium to deep depth geothermal projects is the aggressive nature of geothermal fluids. In order to make the technology more competitive and sustainable, developers need pipe and material solutions that can withstand extreme temperatures and pressures, as well as the corrosive compounds typically found in the earth.
Our aim is to create clear added value for you as a customer for your projects by offering high-quality and sustainable solutions. As a competent manufacturer of stainless steel product solutions for a wide range of applications where corrosion and temperature are critical, BUTTING is a reliable partner for you.
Just one example: Casings
BUTTING produced casings for a new geothermal project for a renowned customer: 2,656 metres of casings measuring 273.1 x 10.16 mm made of Superduplex and 823 metres of casings measuring 339.7 x 12.19 mm made of Alloy 625, each in production lengths of between 30 ft (approx. 9.15 m) and 38 ft (approx. 11.6 m).
