BUTTING Hands-on Days I

The first of the two interlinked seminars focuses on "All about the quality pipe". It is primarily aimed at purchasing and sales staff and at those embarking on new careers from related sectors who would like to acquire a basic knowledge of stainless steel pipes and pipe fittings.

The presentation topics are:

  • Introduction to material science
  • Basic principles of steel coil and steel plate production
  • Introduction to surface technology
  • Introduction to quality assurance
  • European and American standard norms
  • The "perfect" pipe request

The main topics are discussed in short, theoretical presentations. Participants then gain an insight into practice in current production.

After these training sessions, participants will know how a longitudinally welded stainless steel pipe is manufactured from a steel coil or from sheet steel. They will be able to describe a pipe clearly and will learn the standard materials required, their similarities and differences. They also will know the relevant European and American standards and their important characteristics (tolerances, test certificates, surface designs, heat treatment condition, and the required non-destructive and destructive tests).

The training sessions will take place in the teaching rooms of the Academy at H. Butting GmbH & Co. KG in Knesebeck.
