Sustainability is actively practised at BUTTING - in our products and also in our processes. Two key projects are currently progressing at the Tieling site in China: the switch to electric forklift trucks and the expansion of our photovoltaic system. They exemplify our understanding of progress: responsible, technology-driven and future-orientated.

Yesterday was loud: the first electric forklift truck with a load capacity of 3.5 tonnes has been in use at BUTTING Tieling since June - equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery, extended lift mast and comfortable full cab.

This marks the start of the gradual replacement of the existing diesel forklift fleet. A total of seven vehicles with load capacities between 2 and 5 tonnes are to be converted. The advantages are obvious: lower emissions, less noise, no harmful exhaust fumes - a plus for the climate, employees and efficiency. In the future, it will also be possible to dispense with the petrol station that was previously used.

Photovoltaics: solar power from the hall roof

The management at Tieling is also focussing on sustainability when it comes to energy supply. After a long wait, approval has recently been granted for the expansion of the photovoltaic system. The installation of around 3,000 m² of solar panels on the roofs of Halls 3 and 4 is in full swing.

Together with the existing system on Hall 1, a total output of almost 1 megawatt will be achieved in future. Controlled by an intelligent energy management system (EMS), the energy generated will be utilised efficiently or fed into the power grid.
