The BUTTING Academy's integration workshop is a place of encounters, creativity and commitment - this was once again demonstrated by the recent visit of welcome guests: the Vice-President of the Lower Saxony State Parliament, Barbara Otte-Kinast, was a guest together with a number of rural women from the Gifhorn district association to support a very special project.
As part of its cooperation with charitable organisations, the integration workshop in the northern district of Gifhorn once again offered space for social interaction and meaningful work. The focus was on the "sewing studio", which served a good purpose on this day: under the expert guidance of integration workshop employee Heidi Jung, the countrywomen made so-called "Nesteldecken" (nest blankets). "Nesteldecken" - special blankets that use different fabrics, buttons, zips and other materials to meet the needs of people with dementia for tactile activities.
The participants were welcomed by Petra Lührs, 1st Chairwoman of the District Rural Women's Association in the district of Gifhorn, and Uschi Schüller, Head of the Integration Workshop. The lovingly designed nesting blankets will later be passed on to institutions where they will bring joy to people with dementia and help to calm them down.
"It is impressive to see how something valuable is being created here together - for those affected and for togetherness in our society," said Uschi Schüller, drawing a positive conclusion.
The BUTTING Academy is delighted with the great commitment of all those involved and is proud to be able to offer a platform for such meaningful projects with the integration workshop.
