Training starts for 2013 – reinforcements for the BUTTING family

Once again this year, the BUTTING Group welcomes new apprentices. 43 apprentices in 9 apprenticeship fields have been employed at Knesebeck and Schwedt on the Oder. With a total of 156 apprentices, the percentage of trainees at BUTTING remains above the average for companies of a similar size.

27 new colleagues are starting out on their professional careers at Knesebeck. Training began on 1st August with a welcome for the new apprentices and their parents from the management in the person of Hermann Butting and the trainers. Following the welcome, the trainers gave the new apprentices their first glimpse of the company by taking them on a tour of the site. Then the apprentices had the opportunity to introduce themselves and get to know one another socially over a small snack.
But this year there is a new addition to the training programme: the two-year apprenticeship for machine and systems operators. The fact that six positions were created, out of a far greater number of applications, demonstrates the high level of interest in this apprenticeship even in its first year. Subsequent areas of application include in particular the conveyor belt and continuous line systems in pipe production.

BUTTING’s customary Team Week takes place this year between from 2nd to 6th August. In addition to in-house training sessions which focus on the products and legal bases, the programme includes a works rally. During this rally, the apprentices explore the plant for themselves and have their questions answered by members of BUTTING’s specialist departments.

Of course this is also intended to strengthen the sense of cohesion. That is the purpose of the final part of Team Week, with a cycle tour and a shared barbecue. Apprentices from all the different years will come together to visit the “Schweißen & Schneiden" ("Welding and Cutting”) trade fair in Essen (Germany) at the end of September. A specialist trade fair offers many insights into their later task areas and the work of BUTTING.

But training is not just getting underway in Knesebeck. At BUTTING Anlagenbau in Schwedt on the Oder as well, 16 young people are beginning their professional careers. 14 of them are trainee systems mechanics, which makes this the most important training career here as well.

We wish our new apprentices a good start and successful training.

Are you also interested in an apprenticeship at BUTTING? If so, then please apply. The application period for 2014 is already open.
