Experience training: Practice Days I at BUTTING

As a leading stainless steel processor in Europe, the name BUTTING has stood for more than 235 years for very high quality and for progress by tradition. As part of our training measures at the BUTTING Academy, we have since 2007 been offering customers and business partners from the stainless steel sector the chance to pass on to their employees our practical expertise in processing stainless steels.

Since then, the two-day training course, Practice Days I, entitled “All round the quality pipe” has proved very popular and established itself with many partners, especially trading companies that work with pipes and pipe equipment.  In mid-April, Practice Days I was once again held successfully on the BUTTING site.

After a welcome from the head of the BUTTING Academy, Andrea Kiel, the first day of the event began for the 14 participants with specialised lectures on the subjects of materials science, surface technology, quality assurance and the basics of coil and steel plate manufacturing. Elementary questions such as “What are the special characteristics of stainless steels?” or “Which welding processes are used?” were discussed. All the trainers for the entire course were experienced members of the BUTTING staff. In addition to communicating theoretical knowledge, sufficient time was also provided for examining the knowledge thus acquired in practice, in relation to current production. In the evening, the guests had the opportunity for a cosy chat in the historic BUTTING Academy in Knesebeck castle, to continue their discussions and get to know one another better.

On the second day of the course, there followed a number of subject-related lectures, including a presentation on the relevant norms in Europe and the USA and on “the perfect enquiry about pipes”. The feedback from participants at the end of the seminar was entirely positive, and there was similar interest in a possible follow-up event.

Do you also want to find out more about which components and work processes are necessary to manufacture a high-quality pipe, and how to describe them clearly? Then sign up with the BUTTING Academy! The next Practice Days will take place on 7 and 8 November. We would be delighted to welcome you as a participant in one of our follow-up events.
