BUTTING trainees successful in "Young welders competition"

In early June, two apprentices from BUTTING in Knesebeck were successful in the state "Young welders competition" organised by the German Welding Association (Deutscher Verband für Schweisstechnik, DVS) in Hamburg, when they took on other apprentices from Lower Saxony. A system mechanic from the family company achieved an outstanding performance and qualified for the national competition.

The trainees demonstrated their skills and knowledge of different welding processes. A total of 27 participants showed off their skills in TIG-welding, metal arc welding, autogenous welding and MAG welding.

Lukas Herrmann achieved a prestigious third place in the TIG welders section of the competition. In the metal arc welders' group, Dominik Quade came first and thus qualified to take part in the national competition, which will be held during the International Welding and Cutting Fair (Fachmesse Schweißen & Schneiden) in Düsseldorf in September.

Carsten Kamke, responsible for commercial and technical training at BUTTING, says: "We are delighted about the excellent performance of our apprentices and proud of the fact that the one who won first prize has qualified to take part in the national competition and go head to head with the best young welders in Germany."
